RVCS Queens Medal Award

We were all absolutely delighted to hear that Des Thompson became the first ever recipient of the RCVS Queen's Medal at a recent ceremony at Buckingham Palace.

The award recognises an outstanding contribution to the veterinary profession.

Des is a distinguished veterinary surgeon from Northern Ireland who has worked tirelessly for the profession over many years and received two nominations for the award.

Des commented: "To say I was surprised to hear that I had won the Queen's Medal would be the understatement of the year. "I am humbled and honoured that my colleagues should consider me worthy of this prestigious award."

Des is also an alumnus of Vet Learning having completed an MSc with us in the early days with a focus on Clinical Audit at a time when clinical audit within veterinary practices was in it's infancy.
